Two years ago, I re-named the then-new Taurus Curve the Taurus Turd. It all came about because I panned a gushing Guns & Ammo “review” of the novelty self-defense gun without sights at gunssavelife.com. G&A then threatened to sue GSL for ridiculing their “review.” Thankfully, they backed down. Personally, I’m no fan of Taurus after a bad experience with their customer service. But I’ve put all of that under the bridge.
Taurus has been in the business of producing economical firearms designed for duty use and personal defense. With every passing year, there seem to be new additions to their catalog. But one that never seems to go away is the Taurus Model 85 and its variants. According to Taurus, the M85 is their most popular line. And having finally taken the dive in my first foray into Taurus firearms, it is easy for me to see why.
So the girlfriend and I are taking the CCW class after finals, and I want to get a .38 snubnose for concealed carry (for the hot Florida summers). As popular as they are, I don't want a pocket .380 autoloader, because the ammo is impossible to find and incredibly expensive. .38 Special, on the other hand, is very reasonable, and I need something I can shoot alot on a budget.
